Christmas Break

Over Christmas break I plan to just relax and spend time with my family and a few close friends. I also may go visit my grandma and other family in Kansas.

College Plans

By going to college I hope to accomplish learning everything I can about the field I want to go into. I'm going to college for no one other than myself. Really I just want to make something of myself and be proud of whoever I become. When I'm choosing colleges there are about 3 things I look at. I like to make sure the size of the school isn't to big because for the first 4 years I would prefer it isn't a huge school. Then I like to look at the success of the people who have graduated from that school. Then I like visit and see the type of environment that's there. When looking at colleges the person whose input matters the most to me is my dad's. He's been extremely successful in his life and I really value his opinion on everything. College will help me achieve the goals I've set for my life by letting me ease into the real world.

Thanksgiving Break

For Thanksgiving I am going to Santa Fe, New Mexico to visit my sister and her husband for 3 days. We will probably go skiing and or sledding since they have a lot of snow there right now. Then I'll fly back home for Thanksgiving dinner with my whole family. Then the next day I'm going to Jenna's house and we're all putting on a friend family dinner with Paige, Tori, Tyler, Masen, and Kaitlyn. Then I will probably just spend the night with Jenna another night.

Jobs

A job, found online, that is good for my experience and age is to work at American Eagle. I absolutely love shopping and being in that environment. This job is appropriate for me and people like me because it is not very hard and might seem fun. You would have to have good people skills and know the store very well, being that you would have to help customers. It would be a simple, easy job to have while in high school as long as you love clothes and retail. Also, you would have to be able to do simple things like work a register. To prepare for an interview I would just make sure I looked presentable and knew how to persuade the Manager into thinking I was a good fit. I would do this by showing a love for the store and for helping people. Finding a job online is really not very hard if you know a company you would like to work for. Once you know that, you can just go to their website and click on a career section, most companies have them at the bottom of the site, and go on from there.

Homeless to Harvard

I thought the movie and story were very inspiring. My favorite part would have to be when Liz Murray finally decides to start taking care of herself now that her mother has passed. This was my favorite part because I think it was the most important. Throughout the film I kept hoping she would use her potential and make something of herself, so when she finally does it I really enjoyed seeing it. If I had been in Liz's place I don't think I would have been as resilient that quickly. I think she went through a lot, and it would've taken me a bit more time to bounce back.

College Budget

What was most surprising about my budget was how little extra spending money I would have. I expected to have a lot more than what was left over. I am ready for the responsibilities though, I know college is expensive and it is just something I will have to get used to. I plan to have a new car once I graduate, with the help of my parents. We've already discussed it, therefore the car payments will hopefully be gone and I will have more saving money.

Top Careers

My top 2 career choices I'm currently looking into is either Graphic Design or Veterinary Studies. What I would like is to get a Minor in Graphic Design and then become a Vet and designs my stuff. I would like to go into these careers because being a Vet is something I have thought about since I was little. I know it will be hard because of all the schooling but I am prepared for the tough classes. I also want to look into Graphic Design because it is something I like doing and I am good at.

Stress

Pretty much everything stresses me because I get stressed so easily. I deal with it by just getting things done and accepting the stress. It's not that big of a deal to me, I just get used to it. I kind of think everyone should get over it and not complain, but that's just my view.

Staying Organized

My current organizational method is to just organize things by their level of importance. In my planner I only write down the most important things that need to get done. This method does work because then I can focus on what is important and block out the rest. Procrastination hurts because it makes you cram for things and have your brain rush. If you don't procrastinate your brain can work more efficiently. The only way you can truly fight procrastination is by making a mental effort. You can write everything down but if it isn't really on your mind you will put it off. Find ways to self motivate.

My Introduction

My name is Ida Rose Bramlett, I am 16 and a junior in high school. This upcoming year I hope to learn exactly how to fill out college applications and scholarships so that one day I can go to a good college. I don't know exactly what I want to do with my life, however I do know that I want to get a very good degree and never have to worry about losing my job or being looked down on for not having a high quality education. I really enjoy designing things so being an architect, graphic designer, or even a layout artist has always intrigued me. The only thing that worries me about those fields is that they aren't always guaranteed to be stable so I would choose a different field if it meant not having to worry about jobs.
